Tom Soules Livermore City Council Candidate for District 4

ELECT
TOM SOULES

Candidate for Livermore City Council District 4

I will represent you. What do you want to see in Livermore, especially District 4? It is your government, not the City Council’s government.

I will be honest and push hard for transparency in our adminsitration. You will know what I am thinking and why.

District 4 Deserves
Honest Representation

Better Downtown Plan

Livermore deserves a well thought out Downtown Plan. I would like to see a beautiful central park running all the way from Livermore Avenue to L Street, north of First Street. This would greatly improve the city and the lives of our residents, all while keeping the character of the city we love.

Transparent and Honest Government

The City Council’s primary role is to represent the people of Livermore. Consequently, the actions and decisions of its members must be transparent and honest. Discussions about the City’s downtown plan began about five years ago, and it’s time for Livermore’s residents to have a direct vote to conclude this debate. Although the City has held numerous town meetings on the subject, it has yet to act on the recommendations provided by its residents. Regardless of the issue—the Council must ensure that its positions are always transparent and honest.

Environmental Protection

In the late 1990s, the South Livermore Plan included an Urban Growth Boundary (UGB) to safeguard our stunning vineyards.  Our district is the prime beneficiary of the UGB, as it protects this crown jewel of the Bay Area.  I won’t let it be threatened.

At the same time we must have a vibrant and growing economy to support our cost of living and for that matter, to benefit the country.

Economic development must be responsible and we should be cognizant of its impact on the environment. I will encourage engineering, science and technology firms to come here. Livermore has a lot to offer, with its National Laboratories and other high tech companies right here already.  The hospitality and tourism industry benefit as well, with our vineyards, open spaces and downtown.

MEET TOM SOULES

I grew up in the working-class of Detroit, where I learned the value of hard work from my father, who managed a service station. This foundation shaped my approach to life…
